For Providers

For Providers

Beginning in February 2009, L&I will be contacting health-care clinics in Snohomish, Skagit, Whatcom, Island and San Juan counties to ask you to fax reports of accident to us within 2 business days of treating an injured or ill worker.

We hope all providers in the project area will participate

To participate in this project, within 2 business days of treating an injured or ill worker, fax your reports of accident to L&I at 1-800-910-5769.  (Note that this new fax number is just for the Early Claim Solutions project.)

The Early Claim Solutions team will move quickly to approve or deny the claim, making a number of other steps possible.

By helping speed up L&I’s initial decision-making, here’s how your participation will help your L&I patients:

  • Benefits will be paid more quickly.
  • Medical tests will be authorized more rapidly.
  • Pharmacists can fill second prescriptions.

You can get paid more

L&I will pay an incentive of $18 for each report of accident faxed to us within 2 business days of treating an injured or ill worker. This is in addition to the $36 we already pay for these reports — a 50 percent increase.

Getting paid more is as easy as:

  • Enrolling in the project by signing a form that supplements your standard L&I provider application.
  • Billing for the incentive, which may require changes to your billing system.

To meet with an L&I staff member to discuss participation, please contact us.
